Hertfordshire Chorus regularly travels away from home, giving singers the opportunity to combine the usual elements of a good holiday – new places to explore, good food and relaxed company - with their passion for singing to appreciative audiences.
2011 took us to Belgium, where we found a warm welcome and time between beer and chocolate sampling to perform in Roeselare, Leuven and Brussels. Click here to watch a video of us rehearsing in Brussels Cathedral.
The culmination of our 2008/9 season was a weekend in NewcastleGateshead when we visited The Sage to sing Berlioz' Te Deum and Tippett's A Child of Our Time.
We also returned to Italy in October 2009, this time touring in the Tuscany area, based in Siena.
Krakow in Poland was our destination in October 2007; other recent tours have visited Spain (Valencia, Granada and Sevilla) and Italy (Sicily and Umbria).
Hertfordshire Chorus has also travelled by invitation to perform in Germany and Israel and has won silver medals in international competitions in Rhodes and Riva del Garda.
We also have 'mini-tours' - long weekends away with one or two concerts, and plenty of socialising!
Tours are optional, but definitely desirable... about half the Chorus usually tours abroad; almost all take part in UK trips. Click here to find out about joining Hertfordshire Chorus and you could be with us on our next visit to The Sage, Gateshead when we will give the second performance of Ode to a Nightingale by Will Todd on Saturday 5 May 2012.
